The rear brake hub in a motorcycle is a central component of the drum brake system, housing the brake shoes and providing the surface (brake drum) against which the shoes press to create friction. This friction slows down or stops the rear wheel when the brake is applied. The hub also serves as the mounting point for the rear wheel and helps ensure smooth rotation.
